Mood: Cross-cultural Coitus

22 Apr

1. Teenagers

This is a little tune about a British boy and an American cheerleader (how appropo). The Teenagers are such cute lyricists: “On day two, i f*cked her, and it was wild. I like their free, no barriers indie rock style. Most of their songs sound like they got high/drunk, picked up their instruments and just started playing. I know they’re just a fad but I like them anyways and I’m seeing them in May.

2. Estelle

American Boy” was the #1 single in the UK, for any anglomaniacs who are interested.

Kanye West. This man is EVERYWHERE (with Ryan Leslie in “Diamond Girl” as well). What a slut.

3.The Kills

Speaking of cross-cultural coitus, here are The Kills. American singer Alison “VV” Mosshart and British guitarist Jamie “Hotel” Hince were in separate bands when Mosshart heard Hince practicing in the hotel room above hers and met him. When their respective bands broke up, they snail mailed tapes (what is this, the 1800s?) to each other until their patience, tested by the long periods of time that it took for them to receive each others’ taps, wore thin. Mosshart finally upped and moved to London (I would say this is an upgrade from her home state, Florida; not that I have anything against old people and beaches. I’m from New Jersey, leave me alone).
