Mood: Fierce! (Like a supermodel)

5 Mar

(I actually started this entry last week when Fashion Week in Paris was still going on. I just wanted to share some of my fave looks for the fall season. Granted, I’m not sure how plausible it is to wear that face wrap by Watanabe but it is incredibly creative and strangely aesthetically pleasing.)

1. Gotan Project

Gucci Fall 2008

Philippe Cohen Solal, Eduardo Makaroff, and Christoph H. Müller make up the tango trio Gotan Project, creating incredibly seductive music which brings tango music out of the ballroom and into your ipod.

2. Mono

Haider Ackermann fall 2008

mp3: Life in Mono [Mono] (1996)

3. Louie Austen

Viktor & Rolf Fall 2008

Louie Austen is a classically-trained jazz crooner with a likelihood to Frank Sinatra’s voice, who has been somewhat active in the electronic music scene since 1999.He also makes an appearance on French DJ/Artist Stéphane Pompougnac’s tenth Hotel Costes album with the song “Glamour Girl.”

4. Handsome Boy Modeling School

Junya Watanabe Fall 2008

Handsome Boy Modeling School is a conceptual hip-hop collaboration between Dan the Automator and Prince Paul. They often parodied and acted as a commentary on vain, materialistic, and self-absorbed members of upper class society, such as supermodels and people from old money.

mp3: Breakdown ft. Jack Johnson [HBMS] (2004) – download worthy!

mp3: The Greatest Mistake [HBMS] (2004)

mp3: Sunshine(feat. Sean Lennon, Money Mark, Father Guido Sarducci, Josh Hayden & Paula Frazer) [HBMS] (1999)

More about HBMS on their website.

5. Jill Sobule

The Chanel carousel erected in the middle of the Grand Palais for this year’s show. Crazy!
